THE STORY: A MOVEMENT TO IGNITE
IGNITE MOVEMENT

In 2016, two 23-year-old young men from the City of Sunderland felt called that they would both begin to see a generation of young people being reached with the gospel, that would give young people hope and show them their full worth and value instilled in a purposeful and authentic way. This inspired a change, a movement that would create an opportunity for young people to engage with a Christian organisation, while also allowing those young people the chance to journey with their friends, who may not be of faith in a fun & safe environment. IGNITE began a journey to provide and combine music and performing arts for young people from across the North East region, with the word of the gospel through a lens of creative arts.

By hosting one off events, IGNITE Movement welcomed Christian artists, bands and DJs from across the UK and around the world to perform and share at these events. After a few years, IGNITE Movement had delivered a variety of events, while establishing their name across the North East region. By working with young people aged 11-16, IGNITE launched their dynamic schools work. As they continued on their journey to reach thousands of young people across the North East, they saw growth and in 2018 they began the next phase of the journey, which saw the formation of IGNITE MOVEMENT becoming an official registered charity. At the heart of the movement, IGNITE continues to partner with local secondary schools as well as working closely to equip and resource local partner churches across the North East region.

SCHOOLS WORK:
IGNITE PROJECT
Our IGNITE schools project has been at the heart and core of our organisation since the beginning, partnering with local secondary schools, delivering dynamic and memorable assemblies & lessons. Our fully trained team has over 12 years experience providing high quality and thought provoking lessons that are tied to Key Stage 3 and 4 learning outcomes in RE & PSE. We use relevant teaching styles, engaging activities, music and creative arts to explore aspects of the Christian faith.
All of our schools work is carefully planned so that the entire school can get the most out of our visit and each individual’s requirements are met as we exist to serve the school. The importance of promoting two-way engagement with pupils during our visit is paramount to us here at IGNITE Movement, while contributing to the development of all pupils in these specific areas;
-
Spiritual Development
-
Moral Development
-
Social Development
-
Cultural Development
We understand that the school environment is assessed continually and in light of this, all our lessons, assemblies and lunchtime performances are aimed at complemeting Ofsted's inspection framework. To find out more information regarding our schools work or to request an official IGNITE schools pack or booking form for your school, please use our contact page and one of our team will be in touch.
